This blog was created to share my trials and tribulations with digital photography with others who enjoy taking photographs. Many of the posts will probably be in the nature of "what not to do" as I learn from my mistakes. If this helps others avoid the same mistakes then the blog will have been worthwhile.
A little about me:
The first thing I should note is that I am not a professional photographer. I am simply a photo enthusiast like many of those who read this blog. I have sold a few photographs, but those sales have been more by accident than design. Usually, it is because someone has seen one of my photos and has asked me if they could buy a print. That is always a thrill to an amateur photographer.
My love for photography goes back to when I was a child. I used a small box camera whenever I could find the money for film. Most of the pictures were b/w, because that was the easiest and cheapest to develop. My first 35mm camera was an Olympus OM-1 that I bought in the early 70's. I used that camera for many years. During that time I acquired quite a collection of lenses, filters, and other accessories. That outfit served me well. I almost wish it was still practical to use it for photography.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the world has moved on since then. Today I use digital cameras for everything. I edit most of the photos in Photoshop, with an occasional use of PaintShop Pro. What I share on this blog are the lessons I have learned while using the cameras and the editing programs. Feel free to leave a comment if you find something on this blog useful.
