landscape pictures of michigan

michigan

The photographs in this gallery were taken in northern Michigan. You will notice that almost every picture has water in it. This is a fact of life in Michigan. The Great Lakes, which border Michigan, hold 20% of the world's freshwater. Add in all of the lakes and streams in the state and you have water, water everywhere. click here to view gallery

portraits

Capturing a person's personality in a two-dimensional image is always a challenge. I can take dozens of shots and end up dissatisfied with every one of them. At other times, a quick point-and-click comes out perfect. This is a skill I need to work on, since it can be critical for my portrait drawing. click here to view gallery

Lighted nativity scene near largest pond in the park. Interesting tree on hiking trail in the Olive Branch City Park This is the only photo in this gallery that was not taken in the City Park. It was shot about 1/2 mile away. This tree must have had a parasite - most likely some kind of vine.
Moon over Olive Branch, Mississippi Interesting tree on hiking trail in the Olive Branch City Park Lights reflecting off pond with rising full-moon barely visible to right of center light. Some wood fungus growing on a trail in the park.
View of the largest pond in the Olive Branch City Park. Interesting tree on hiking trail in the Olive Branch City Park Another interesting tree growing along the hiking trail in the park. This island, in the largest pond, will be gone in a few more years unless something is done to save it.
